Michael Richardson – DIRECTOR
Michael is an internationally recognised Project Director, with over 40 years experience spanning almost all fields of construction and development in Australia, the UK and Europe. He has worked as managing director of several large-scale construction companies, gaining experience in construction techniques and methodologies that he continues to draw on in his role as director of First Focus Management. His specialisations are in Project Management, Development Management, Superintendent Services and Contract Management. No First Focus Management project has ended in a costly legal dispute, in large part due to Michael’s experience and judgement.
Michael considers his team’s role not as experts on all things but as facilitators to bring the experts together in harmony, understanding the limitations of human groups. He brings this ethos to bear on all projects to which First Focus is engaged. His innate planning abilities have matured with the utilisation of critical path planning techniques on all the major and minor projects he has undertaken. His logical formulation of procedures and events have been embedded in many forms of building contracts (both traditional & D&C) by discussion with the client’s legal advisors. Once a contract is executed Michael brings a strict but fair method of management to the role of Project Director
Patrick Richardson
Patrick has been working as a Project and Development Manager for over 10 years, and excels in his role due to both his personal management experiences as well as several professional accreditations, including a Masters in Project Management and PMQ/PPQ qualifications from the Association of Project Management. He is a known asset when working on boutique residential and commercial projects, as well as specialist projects that require less conventional management approaches, such as the Buckingham Palace restoration works (UK) and numerous made-to-suit Amazon robotic warehouses across Europe.
His strengths are Contract Management and Negotiation, Pre-Construction works, Development Management and project risk management. Patrick is a Client-focused consultant, who works on each project to ensure that all parties (including the Client, Builder, Developer and other stakeholders) are treated fairly and without prejudice. It is due to this mindset that no project Patrick has undertaken has resulted in project non-completion or shutdown by any major stakeholder.
Martin Sharp
Martin emigrated from the UK to Australia in 1997. For 20 years he was employed as a construction / project manager working on a wide range and size of projects including CBD high rise, aged care, residential, industrial, schools, universities and a number of luxury homes. He prides himself on his extensive knowledge of numerous construction processes and his eye for detail, which he sees as essential in delivering a quality product to his clients. Martin also has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building, obtained in the UK and has also studied Sustainable Development at UNSW. He also holds numerous other minor qualifications acquired as part of his continuing professional development during a lifetime in construction.
Martin joined First Focus Management in October 2017 and has subsequently managed a number of multi-unit residential projects along with the largest aerated concrete production facility in the southern hemisphere. He sees his role on the ‘client side’ as being totally impartial, either as superintendent and/or project manager and always acts fairly in any dispute resolution.
